Rock Hill, S.C.— Fresh off a midweek victory the Winthrop men's soccer team is set to host its Big South Conference opener as it welcomes UNC Asheville to Eagle Field on Saturday Oct. 2.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS UNC ASHEVILLE
Winthrop and Asheville meet for the 46
th time as the Eagles lead the all-time series 27-15-3. Bulldogs have won four of the last five meetings including last year with a 2-1 overtime win. Winthrop grabbed the lead before half and Asheville tied the game a minute into the second half and then won the game in the 100
th.
BIG SOUTH OPENERS
Winthrop is 20-15-1 all-time in Big South openers and have dropped its last five. The last league-opening win came Sept. 26, 2015 at Liberty with a 2-1 victory in double overtime.

ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Sean Green's goal on the kickoff following the Stetson goal is ranked in the Top 5 all-time at the NCAA D1 level for the fastest consecutive goals by opposing teams. In the spring of 2021, Winthrop scored 12 seconds into the game at South Carolina as
Jonathan Foster netted one of the quickest goals in program history.

Brigham Larsen – Freshman of the Week
- Scored two second half goals in the 3-1 win over Furman that included the game-winner in the 58th minute
- Continuing to apply pressure offensively, Larsen added an insurance goal in the 89th minute
