Rock Hill, S.C.— Winthrop men's soccer is looking for a 2-0 start when it heads to historic Stone Stadium to take on the University of South Carolina, Sunday evening.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS SOUTH CAROLINA
Winthrop and South Carolina meet for the 9
th time. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series 8-0 as the team's last met this past spring. Winthrop opened the 2021 spring season in Columbia, S.C. and despite taking a 1-0 lead after just 12 seconds the victory went to the Gamecocks, 4-2.

Winthrop opened the season with a wild 4-3 overtime victory at Stetson Thursday night. Stetson struck first and the Eagles tied the game as it was 1-1 at the half. Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the 61

Daniel Ridenhour is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Eagles after serving the previous 12 seasons as an associate/assistant coach.
ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Sean Green's goal on the kickoff following the Stetson goal is ranked in the Top 5 all-time at the NCAA D1 level for the fastest consecutive goals by opposing teams. In the spring of 2021, Winthrop scored 12 seconds into the game at South Carolina as Jonathan Foster netted one of the quickest goals in program history.
