Game Recap
  • Hatters struck opened the scoring in the 11th minute as Oliver Bryneus received a pass near the top of the box and as he drew a couple of Winthrop defenders flicked the ball into space just inside the 18 where Ajmeer Spengler ripped a shot into the top left corner
  • After the Eagles fell behind they began to create some dangerous opportunities and it finally paid off in the 29th minute
  • The Eagles earned a corner and Bryant Jimenez-Pearce delivered a perfect free kick to the head of Grayson Woodard who found the upper right corner to draw level
  • In the 61st minute, the Eagles knocked a long ball that Stetson goalkeeper came out of the box to play and he headed the ball back up field
  • Conor Stephens collected the ball and fired a left-footed shot from about 35-40 yards out into the lower right corner of the open net for a 2-1 lead
  • Stetson took advantage of a fortunate bounce in the 82nd minute when the Eagles went to clear the ball and Alex Turner blocked it
  • The deflection went behind the back line and Turner ran on as he just beat Sam Jones to the ball and chipped over high the head of Jones as he slid in to tie the game at 2-2
  • Stetson then grabbed the lead in the 88th minute when Bryneus netted his second of the match on a free kick just outside the box that he curled over the wall and into the lower right corner past a diving Jones
  • However, the Eagles were not done as they caught the Hatters sleeping on the kickoff as Tyler Hornsby tapped the kickoff to Sean Green and he laced a shot toward the Stetson goal that found the back of the net in the top right corner as the goalkeeper tried to chase it down and tip it over the bar
  • In the 98th minute, Stetson had a good chance for a golden goal as they broke free with numbers, but Luis Delgado's shot inside the box from an angle was wide left
  • Just under two minutes later the Eagles got a throw in in the final third as Jonathan Foster received it near the end line inside the box and played a pass in front to Jimenez-Pearce who finished it first time for the golden goal
Notables
  • This was the second straight trip to Stetson in which the Eagles forced overtime in the final two minutes of the game
  • In 2007 Dave Carton scored 26 seconds left in regulation to help the Eagles earn 2-2 draw
  • The goal by Green ranks in the Top 5 all-time at the NCAA D1 level for fastest consecutive goals by opposing teams
