- Winthrop had a good opportunity for an early lead as Alexandra Perez's shot off a cross to the lower left corner was stopped on a diving save by Sheila Sanchez Agramunt in the 4th minute
- The Lady Hornets had their first good scoring chance in the 8th minute as a cross in front of goal was headed over the bar from about 10 yards by Kassandra Schoen
- Eagles broke through in the 33rd minute when Valentina Mosquera served a cross to the near post as Katy Feskorn into the lower right corner
- Perez had a good chance to double the lead in the 39th minute when a Anna Kate Hightower played a cross in front on the floor but the first time shot sailed over the bar
- Eagles led 1-0 at the break as it held an 8-3 advantage in shots and 2-0 on corners after 45 minutes
- Winthrop made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute when Angelico Castro stole the ball, dribbled right at the last defenders and as she cut the ball back toward the top of the 18 she laid off pass to Emma Smith who took a touch and placed a shot into the lower left corner
- The Lady Hornets rallied and forced overtime as they scored goals in the 74th and 78th minute
- The first came off a goal by Isabella Beortegui and then Camila Jiminez scored on a shot from outside the box that found the top left corner
- Jessica Gengler lifted the Eagles to victory with a golden goal as she struck a shot from outside the box into the left corner
- Winthrop finished with a 21-12 advantage in shots, 11-6 in shots on goal and 6-2 in corners
- Sanchez Agramunt finished with eight saves while Giarrizzi finished with four saves
