ROCK HILL, S.C. – A two-run fifth inning narrowly lifted the Wofford Terriers over the Eagles Wednesday night, 4-3.
Winthrop called on a new pitcher each inning, with
Aaron White making his first collegiate start. We also saw appearances from

Parker Kruglewicz,
Bryan Petta,
Daniel Blair,
Cody Whitten,
Garrett Gainey and
Dalton Mims.
These teams are set to meet again, next time in Spartanburg, on Wednesday, May 19. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both the Eagles and Terriers made it through the 1st and 2nd inning scoreless.
- In the bottom of the 3rd, Scout McFalls got the scoring underway with a two-out solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Terriers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 4th with Matty Brown flying out to bring home John Dempsey, who singled to lead-off the inning. In the next at-bat Trey Yunger singled to centerfield advanced to second on a passed ball, stole third and eventually came home on a wild pitch.
- Spencer Yankle led off the bottom of the 4th with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jonathan Strauss then smashed a two-out single, bringing Yankle home and tying the game up at two apiece.
- Ryan Galanie singled and Zeb Roos doubled to give the Terrier's two baserunners in scoring position with two outs. Dempsey singled deep to right in the next at-bat bringing home two more runs, taking a 4-2 lead.
- The Eagles were held scoreless until the bottom of the 7th inning when McFalls singled to right field scoring Tyler Baker who reached on a fielder's choice in the previous at-bat, cutting Wofford's lead to one, 4-3.
- In the top of the 9th, Dalton Mims got the first two batters he faced to ground out, before Jack Renwick reached on an error. He was later picked off at first base.
- Ty Hooks singled in the bottom of the 9th to give the home team a base runner but a 6-4-3 ended the contest.

The Eagles will travel to Charleston for a three-game series with the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. Friday, May 7 will be a single game scheduled for 6 p.m., while Saturday, May 8 will be a double header with first pitch of Game 1 scheduled for 1 p.m.
