ROCK HILL, S.C. – Saturday's double header against the High Point was a high scoring affair with the Eagles winning Game 1 in walk-off fashion 11-10 and falling 19-15 in Game 2. These teams combined for 34 runs in the series finale, 55 runs on the day. The two games also saw a combined 26 pitching changes. Winthrop had six home runs this afternoon, with Yankle and Tepper each hitting a pair. Yankle is the first Eagle since May 23, 2019 to hit two home runs in the same game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
- The Eagles got on the board first when Spencer Yankle hit a stand-up double, driving in Dillon Morton, taking a 1-0 lead after one.
- Colten Rendon pitched a 1-2-3 top of the second inning, settling in nicely.
- Joey Tepper led off Winthrop's half of the inning with a home run to left field to make it a 2-0 game.
- Will Martin and Drake Smith hit back-to-back singles, with Martin coming home on an error in Tyler Baker's at-bat.
- To cap off the inning, Scout McFalls doubled to left center, scoring Drake Smith to take a 4-0 lead after two.
- The Panthers came clawing back in the top of the 3rd, tying the game up at four apiece after Cole Singsank drew a bases-loaded walk, followed by an error that scored two, capped off by a Cameron Irvine single to right field.
- After a scoreless fourth inning for both sides, the Panthers took their first lead of the afternoon when Singsank doubled down the left field line, bringing home Joe Johnson, 5-4.
- Ty Hooks and Dillon Morton drew back-to-back walks before Yankle jacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the 5th to regain a 7-5 lead.
- After a scoreless half for the Panthers, Dillon Morton hit a solo home run, the Eagles third long ball of the contest, to extend its lead, 8-5.
- The Panthers got to Daniel Blair, who came in in relief in the 5th inning, and put up two runs to make it a one-run contest, 8-7.
- In Winthrop's half of the 7th, Jonathan Strauss came in to pinch hit and drove in Andrew Jenner who singled to lead-off the inning, to give the Eagles a 9-7 edge.
- In the top of the 8th, Singsank singled to center, driving in a pair of runs to tie the game at nine and send it to extras.
- Justin Ebert flew out in the bottom of the 10th to score Blake Sutton and lead, 10-9.
- In the bottom of the 10th, Joseph Szvetitz grounded out scoring McFalls from third and in the next at-bat, Yankle hit his second homer of the competition to give Winthrop the walk-off win, 11-10.
GAME 2
- Parker Whittle got the starting nod for the Eagles in Game 2 and struggled to settle in, giving up six earned runs, recording just one out.
- In Winthrop's half of the first, they cut High Point's lead in half, with back-to-back runs coming home on wild pitches, 6-3.
- The Panthers put up another three runs in the 2nd off three consecutive singles to lead 9-3.
- Winthrop responded with three runs of its own, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Joey Tepper.
- The runs continued with High Point adding another pair of runs in the 3rd, extending their lead, 11-6.
- The Eagles put together a five-run third inning to tie the game at 11. Jonathan Strauss hit a two-run home run and McFalls doubled in two runs.
- The tie didn't last long with High Point stringing together three hits for five runs and regaining the lead, 17-11.
- The Eagles were held scoreless in the bottom of the 4th, the first scoreless frame for either side this game.
- The Panthers put up a single run in the top of the 5th and two more in the 7th while hold Winthrop scoreless the remainder of the contest.
- High Point took Game 2, 19-15.

The Eagles will host Wofford in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, May 5. First pitch against the Terriers is scheduled for 5 p.m.
