Lacrosse Travels To High Point For Meeting With Panthers

ROCK HILL, S.C.– Winthrop lacrosse will return to action on Saturday, April 10 when they travel to High Point to take on Big South foe, the High Point Panthers. Opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Vert Stadium.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
The Eagles will look to snap a two-game losing skid after dropping their most recent contest to Radford in a heartbreaker, 10-9. 
 
Lauren Asher, recorded the only multi-goal game for the Eagles with a hat trick. Her three goals was a game high. Sara McGuire made 10 saves, on 10 goals with a .500 save percentage

Lauren Morris  dominated on the defensive end, being credited with four caused turnovers. Olivia Deaver  also had multiple caused turnovers against the Highlanders, recording three in the loss and picking up three ground balls.

In their most recent contest against High Point, the Eagles fell 17-10 in the Big South title game. Olivia Deaver led the Eagles with three goals while McKenna Blick, Lauren Morris, and Savannah Paton each had a pair. The Eagles closed out the game on a 6-0 run over 18 minutes but it was not enough for the win. 
 
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
The Panthers are coming off a pair of wins over Coastal Carolina and Campbell this past week. They defeated the Camels in the conference opener, 23-15. 
 
In the win, High Point had eight contributing goal scorers with two players, Abby Hormes and Ashley Britton, combining for 15 of High Point's 23 goals. 
 
Abby Hormes tied the HPU program record for goals in a single game with eight as well as setting a new career high. She leads the Big South in goals per game, averaging 3.88, followed by Ashley Britton with 3.75. They are tied for first in the Big South in points per game, averaging 4.5.
 
Goalie Sarah Zeto has started eight out of nine games and has made 53 saves. She currently has a 2-6 overall record, with a .381 save percentage, ranked at third in the conference.
 
UP NEXT
Winthrop will travel to Clinton, S.C. to take on the Presbyterian Blue Hose on Wednesday, April 14. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. The Eagles have dominated in recent history, winning 10 straight.
