Rock Hill, S.C.— Winthrop softball is set for a midweek doubleheader at North Carolina Central on Apr. 8 and will then dive back into Big South Conference competition on the weekend with a three-game series against Presbyterian College Apr. 10-11.
Winthrop was supposed to play a single-game against North Carolina A&T on Tuesday, Apr. 6 but that was postponed do an undetermined date down the road.

- Eagles ended a four-game skid last weekend and captured their first conference series taking 2-of-3 at Charleston Southern
- Lead the Big South in runs scored, hits, RBI, homeruns, total bases, walks, walks per game and rank second in on-base percentage
- Winthrop has the third best scoring offense in the league at 4.26 runs per game
- Macy McCall (.388) and Ansley Gilreath (.370) are third and fourth in the league for batting average
- McCall has reached base in all 34 games and leads the conference in runs, on-base percentage and stolen bases
- McCall's 34-game streak of reaching base is second in program history for a single-season
- Gilreath leads the league in homeruns, slugging percentage, and total bases
- Taylor Charlton had a big weekend at Charleston Southern going 4-for-6 with three runs, two homeruns, four RBI, three walks, a 1.667 slugging percentage and .778 on-base percentage
- For her efforts, Charlton was named the Big South Conference Player of the Week
- Madyson Watson is second in the league in total wins (9), leads the league in strikeouts (140) and second in strikeouts per game (8.65)
- Her strikeouts per game are more than any other pitcher in the league with 50 or more innings pitched (Watson has tossed 113.1 innings)
- Watson has thrown 12 complete games on the year, second-most in the league
- Aisha Weixlmann is tied for 4th in the league in wins and 5th in strikeouts

- Head coach Windy Thees is in her third season at Winthrop and in her 17th season as head coach of a collegiate softball program
- Spent five seasons at Georgia State & College compiling a 163-92 record followed by six years at Memphis (172-151) and three seasons at Ole Miss (69-94)
- In her 17 seasons she's compiled an overall record of 462-391 and a record of 299-299 at the helm of a D1 program
- Led Ole Miss to five wins over nationally-ranked opponents that included a 2-0 victory at #1 Florida in 2014
- In 2003 she led Georgia State & College to a runner-up finish in the Division II National Championship
- Thees was a four-year starter at Florida State as both a catcher and second baseman
RECORD BOOK WATCH
- Westbrooks now has 125 career RBI, which is 6th on the all-time list and one back from 5th place
- She needs 20 to become the all-time leader in RBI at Winthrop
- Gilreath now has 111 career RBI and is now all alone in 8th all-time
- Gilreath moved into 2nd on the all-time homerun list with 32 while Westbrooks is now all alone in 5th with 24 after her homerun on Tuesday
- With 67 career walks, Gilreath is tied for 5th all-time
- Westbrooks has 60 career walks and is now 8th all-time
- Westbrooks is 12th on the all-time hit list with 192 and four hits away from cracking the Top 10
- Westbrooks is also moving up the ranks in doubles with 38 in her career, which is 8th
- Watson broke into the program's Top 10 for career wins and reached 300 career strikeouts in the win over Furman
- Watson is now 8th all-time in strikeouts and became the 10th player in program history to record 300 strikeouts in a career
- Over the weekend she became the 8th play in program history to reach 400 career strikeouts and now has 401
- Her 401 career strikeouts put her 7th all-time (12 away from 6th)

Following the midweek games, Winthrop will return to Big South Conference action this weekend as it hosts Presbyterian College in a three-game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 10.

Admission is free for the 2020-21 season and spectators are allowed to attend games. All patrons that enter the facility must wear a mask the entire time in accordance with Winthrop University policies and procedures. NO spectators are allowed to enter the field of play at ANY time and there is no standing at the net between the dugout and the stands of the home or visiting dugout.
