ROCK HILL, S. C. – The Eagles fell to the Campbell Camels Tuesday night, 28-11. Winthrop falls to 8-11 on the season, 5-6 in Big South conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both the Eagles and Camels got a base runner in the first inning but were unable to get any runs across.
- The Camels struck first in the top of the 2nd off a one out, two-RBI single to right field off the bat of Ty Babin.
- Babin stole second and scored from there off another single, a shot to left center off the bat of Lawson Harrill to take a 3-0 lead.
- After going down by three, the Eagles got two back in their half of the inning. Ty Hooks led the inning off with a single to right field and Ethan Fewell walked on a 3-1 count in the next at-bat.
- Jonathan Strauss singled to left, knocking in Hooks and in the next at-bat, Tyler Baker reached first on a fielder's choice, bringing Fewell across the plate as well, cutting Campbell's lead to one, 3-2.
- The Camels blew the game wide open in the third and fourth inning, scoring a combined 14 runs in two innings.
- The third inning was topped off with a two-run homer off the bat of Matthew Christian and a three-run home run from Zach Neto, who started on the mound for Campbell.
- In the fourth inning, four of Campbell's run were scoring with two outs, highlighted by a three RBI triple for Bryce Arnold and a 2 RBI double down the left field line off the bat of Christian Wolf.
- In the bottom of the 4th, Will Martin and Strauss were walked in back-to-back at-bats to give the Eagles two quick base runners.
- Scout McFalls reached on an error that brought Martin in from third.
- Ty Hooks singled to right field bringing in another run, making it a 17-8 contest.
- In the top of the 5th, Campbell put up another six runs off a three run homer off the bat of Arnold and a two run shot off the bat of Christian.
- In Winthrop's half of the 5th inning, Jonathan Strauss came home on a passed ball, with Scout McFalls driving in Tyler Baker to cut into Campbell's lead with two outs, 22-10.
- Will Martin singled to right field, driving in Ty Hooks from second base to bring home another Winthrop run in the bottom of the 6th, 22-11.
- Campbell put up another six-run inning in the top of the 7th to take a 28-11 lead and ultimately win the contest.

The Eagles look to snap a four-game losing skid when they play host to the UNC Asheville Bulldogs for a three-game series April 9-10. The series will start with a single game Friday night beginning at 5 p.m., followed by a double-header Saturday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
