RADFORD, V.A. – The Eagles were swept by Radford on Saturday, dropping both games of the double header, 11-1 and 6-4. Game 1 was called after seven innings. Winthrop is now 10-16 overall with a 7-11 mark against Big South opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
· After the Eagles stranded two base runners in the top of the 1st, the Highlanders got to Daniel Blair, plating six runs in the first.
· The second and third inning were quiet for both sides, with Garrett Gainey coming in in relief for the Eagles, settling in nicely.
· Andrew Jenner singled in the top of the 4th, giving the Eagles a base runner. He came home, putting Winthrop on the board when Tyler Baker singled up the right side to make it a 6-1 game.
· Gainey pitched a 1-2-3 4th inning.
· After a scoreless 5th inning, Radford led off the bottom of the 6th with a solo home run off the bat of Will Harless putting the Highlanders up 7-1.
· Later in the inning, Sean Cheely doubled down the left field line with bases loaded to extend Radford's lead, 9-1.
· The Eagles went down in order in the 7th inning.
· With two outs in the bottom of the 7th, Jalen Buster tripled to right field, scoring Bryson Dansberry. Buster would come home on a wild pitch and the Highlanders would win, 11-1.
GAME 2
· The first two innings were scoreless for both squads.
· In the top of the 3rd, Scout McFalls laced a one-out double down the left field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
· McFalls came home when Dillon Morton double down the right field line, giving the Eagles their first lead of the day.
· In the bottom of the 3rd, Radford tied things up when Garrett Matheny doubled to left, scoring Buster who singled earlier in the inning.
· Andrew Jenner kept things rolling in the top of the 4th leading things off with a triple.
· With one out, Jonathan Strauss doubled, bringing Jenner home and giving Winthrop a 2-1 lead.
· Radford took a 3-2 lead in their half of the 4th off Connor Bagnieski's two-run homer over the right field wall.
· Both teams settled down, putting together two scoreless innings in the 5th and 6th.
· Joe McNamara led off the top of the 7th with a single to center field.
· He would come home off Yankle's one-out single to tie the game up at three apiece.
· With two on in the bottom of the 7th, Willie Lumpkin gave up three consecutive singles, allowing the Highlanders to take a 5-3 lead.
· Ty Hooks kept Winthrop in the contest with a lead-off double to center field and came home off a Joey Tepper single to right, cutting the Highlander's lead to just one.
· Radford would put up another run in the bottom of the 8th, winning the contest 6-4.

Winthrop will travel to Charleston for a midweek matchup with the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Tuesday, April 20. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
