Rock Hill, S.C. — Winthrop softball battled against USC Upstate Friday evening in a 12-inning pitcher's duel that ended with an Eagles 2-1 victory in walk-off fashion.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Leading off for the Eagles, dropped a bunt single
- After stealing second and third McCall plated on a sacrifice fly from
- The Spartans posed a threat in the third after getting two runners aboard but the Eagles got out of the inning unharmed
- Kaitlyn Tucker singled with one out in the fifth, advanced on a ball from Lauren King but the threat ended when McCall drove a deep fly ball to left field for the fly out
- After drawing a walk, Tiff Domingue stole second and scored on an outfield single to even the score in the top of the sixth
- Eagles were unable to respond in the sixth as runners were stranded on first and third
- Tucker led off in the bottom of the seventh driving a 2-1 pitch to deep right field for the first out. Eagles were retired in order forcing extra innings
- Bottom of the 10th with two outs drove a ball down the left field line and jetted her way to second for a double
- beat out an infield ground ball and McCall rounded third to make her way home as the second baseman threw it home getting McCall into a pickle and out at home to end the inning
- The Spartans posed a threat in the 11th after Celeste Delorenzo and Sarah Price singled
- Then Domingue hit a ball up the middle but Lauren King made a diving stop, getting the out at second and saved a run from scoring
- Tucker led off the 12th with a single through the left side, advancing to third on a sac bunt and wild pitch
- The Spartans intentionally walked McCall with two outs, leaving it up to Warren and she delivered as she drove a 1-1 pitch to centerfield to score Tucker for a walk-off victory
EXTRA BASES
- Madyson Watson went the distance, tossing a career-high 12 innings allowing one run on five hits with a walk and nine strikeouts for her 12th win of the season
- Winthrop has now won four straight meetings against the Spartans and have a chance to take the series for a second straight time with a win on Saturday
- The win is also the fourth straight home victory for the Eagles
- This was the 14th one run game the Eagles have been involved in this season
