ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop lacrosse will hit the road for the first time in 2021 to take on the Mercer Bears for their first midweek contest on Tuesday, Mar. 8. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
The Eagles hosted the Bears earlier in the season, squeezing out the 14-11 win, behind four goals and two assists from
McKenna Blick. Three other Eagles also recorded a multi-goal game.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
The Eagles just fell short of a comeback against the Kennesaw State Owls on Saturday, falling 15-14.
Despite the outcome, Winthrop had four players score three goals;
McKenna Blick,
Alyssa Angelo,
Molly Dankowski and
Savanah Paton.
Lauren Asher completely stuffed the stat sheet with 1 goal, 1 assist, causing four turnovers, picking up four ground balls and winning seven draw controls.
Both goalies saw action against the Owls, with
Sara McGuire playing a majority of the contest, making five saves.
Bianca Tedesco currently leads the Big South with 2.5 assists per game.
SCOUTING MERCER
Mercer enters the match looking for its first win of the season after dropping contests to High Point, Winthrop and Vanderbilt.
In their most recent contest, Mercer started off slow, allowing Vanderbilt to take a commanding 11-2 lead early into the second half. A late offensive spark and 6-1 run for the Bears to close out the contest fell short of a comeback, falling 15-11.
Lily Morin has eight goals on the season, averaging 2.67 per game, a team-high and good enough for third-best in the SoCon.
Goalie Isabel Cryne, despite no wins on the young season, has made 25 saves in 34 goals against for a solid .424 save percentage.
ALL-TIME AGAINST MERCER
The Eagles hold a 3-1 all-time record against the Bears. This will be the fifth meeting in four consecutive seasons.
