Box Score Statesboro, Ga. — Winthrop Softball finished out the weekend with a 7-2 victory over College of Charleston with multi-hit performances from
Vianna Rodriguez and
Ansley Gilreath Sunday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Macy McCall dropped down a bunt single to start off the first for the Eagles, took second on a passed ball, stole third and scored on the bad throw.
- Cougars tied the game with a leadoff homerun in the bottom of the second by Riley Miller
- Starting off the fourth, Ansley Gilreath walked and then was sacrificed over to second by Taylor Charlton
- Ashley Westbrooks single up the middle scored Gilreath for a 2-1 lead
- Two batters later Vianna Rodriguez singled to center, scoring Westbrooks
- With a runner on first in the top of the fifth Gilreath sent a two-run blast to left center, her fourth homerun of the weekend
- The Eagles weren't done as Bailey Warren and Rodriguez hit back-to-back doubles down the left field line to bring another run across the board for a 5-1 lead
- For the sixth time on the weekend McCall drew a walk to lead off an inning as she got things going in the sixth
- McCall swiped another two bases and scored on a sac fly from Madyson Watson

- McCall has extended her streak to 18 straight games of reaching base
- McCall also grabbed another three steals bringing her season total to 18 (one away from the single season Top 10)
- Gilreath's homerun in the fifth made her second all-time in career home runs with 31

Winthrop will head south as it makes its way to Macon, Ga. to compete in the Mercer Bear Classic for their final pre-season games. They will play a double header starting at 3 p.m. against the host Bears.
