Game Recap
- Winthrop had been applying pressure offensively as it earned another corner, but off the clearance the Runnin' Bulldogs countered quickly
- Pa Nijie dribbled down the middle of the field and slipped a ball forward to Abel Gebrekiros who shielded off the defender and slotted a shot into the lower right corner in the 19th minute
- Eagles continued to pressure, creating opportunities going forward but couldn't make the final connection
- Winthrop trailed 1-0 at the break but had a 5-2 advantage in shots and 4-1 in corners
- Grayson Woodard had a good scoring chance in the 52nd minute when he headed a ball toward the left side of the frame but it was cleared away near the line by a defender
- Less than a minute later Conor Stephens tried to slip a shot from just outside the 18 to the lower left corner that just missed wide
- Winthrop had a fair amount of the possession in the second half and continued to push forward creating chances but couldn't convert
- Eagles outshot the Runnin' Bulldogs 16-6 and had a 7-2 advantage in corners
Looking Ahead
Winthrop will finish out the regular season on Thursday, Apr. 8 when it heads to Clinton, SC to take on Presbyterian College at 4 p.m.
