  • Eagles had a good chance in the 8th minute on the counter as Michael Smith broke free down the left wing and tried to find Suhong Jung making a run in the box but a PC defender just beat him to the ball to clear away for a corner
  • Jayden Mace got a shot off the corner but it was saved by Aidan Montoure
  • In the 10th minute Grayson Woodard's pressure paid off as he stole the ball out wide and led Smith into the box with a pass
  • Smith dribble his way toward goal and hit a solid shot trying to beat the goalkeeper near post but it was just wide
  • Winthrop did break through in the 19th minute as Conor Stephens turned a throw into toward the middle of the field and let a shot fly just outside the 18
  • The shot by Stephens to the lower left corner was saved but Smith followed the shot and put away the rebound for a 1-0 lead
  • PC nearly tied the game in the 25th minute when Pedro Crespo's header in front pinged off the crossbar and was cleared
  • In the 29th minute Mamadu Bah set up Daniel Anani near the top of the six but his shot to the lower right corner was just wide of the post
  • In the 40th minute, Jung dribbled his defender in the box and had good space at an angle to the right of the keeper but was unable to squeeze the ball in near post as Montoure made the save
  • PC came out applying a lot of offensive pressure with three shots and two corners in the first 10 and half minutes
  • The Blue Hose finally broke free in the 62nd minute when Cesar Sancho's header was saved by Sam Bell off the bar and it fell right to the feet of Michael Wilson as he tapped the ball in for his first goal of the year
  • Jonathan Foster nearly ended the game in the 102nd minute as he set free down the right side of the field on a counter
  • Foster had defender trailing but he was able to hold him off as he broke into the box and as he closed in on goal he slipped a shot that looked as if it went through the legs of Montoure and hit the far post and was cleared away
  • Moments later, Stephens had a good look after blocked shot as he tried to curl it into the top right corner from the top of the box but just missed high
  • Off a corner in the 106th minute, Taeyoon Oh collected a deflection and had space from about the spot and he lined up to take the shot but it sailed high over the bar
  • PC ended with a 19-15 advantage in shots and 9-7 edge in shots on goal
  • Freshman Sam Bell finished with a career-best eight saves
  • After going 20 games in the series without an overtime game, Winthrop and PC have now played three straight meetings into the second overtime
