Boiling Springs, N.C. – The Eagles scored early and often to lift them over the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs Sunday afternoon, 17-10. Winthrop improves to 3-4 on the season, 2-0 against Big South opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lauren Morris got the scoring underway with back-to-back goals less than a minute apart just two minutes into the contest.
- Gardner-Webb got one back at the 25:22 mark when Eilish Gately found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
- The Eagles went on a 5-0 run, which included Morris' third of the game and back-to-back goals from Bianca Tedesco, to pull ahead 7-1.
- The Runnin' Bulldogs halted Winthrop's run with a Hailey Maranto goal at the 18:59 mark to make it 7-2.
- The Eagles and Runnin' Bulldogs exchanged goals nearly 45 seconds apart, with Winthrop leading 8-3 with 16:01 to play.
- Both teams cooled off, remaining scoreless until Morris scored her fourth goal of the game, a free position shot, at the 9:10 mark
- Following a Winthrop turnover, Brittany Sherrod picked up the ground ball and ran it down the field for a score, chipping away at the Eagles lead.
- With a little over a minute to play in the half, Asher scored her second goal of the game, extending their lead to six, 10-4.
- Talen Francis, Gardner-Webb's leading goal scorer netted one with just second remaining to make it a 10-5 game at halftime.
- The Runnin' Bulldogs came out of the break with a quick goal by Jada Preston.
- After getting fouled, Savanah Paton netted the free position shot to keep a five-goal lead, 11-6.
- Tedesco and McKenna Blick would go back-to-back before Gardner-Webb's Jada Preston netted another goal.
- Grayson McKenzie got in on the scoring fun with one of her own to keep pulling away from the home team with 16:08 to play, 14-7.
- The Eagles and Runnin' Bulldogs exchanged goals for the remaining 13 minutes and Winthrop came out on top, 17-10.
