Lacrosse Takes On Gardner-Webb Sunday Afternoon In Boiling Springs

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Eagles are back in action on Sunday, Mar. 28, when they head to Boiling Springs for a contest against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs. Opening draw is scheduled for 2 p.m.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
Winthrop enters Sunday's contest looking to snap a three-game losing skid.
 
In their most recent contest against Furman, the Eagles fell 19-5. Lauren Morris was the only Eagle to find the back of the net multiple times, finishing with two goals.
 
Bianca Tedesco, who leads the team and conference in assists with 16, had two against Furman.
She also leads the conference in points per game, averaging 4.17 per game.
 
McKenna Blick and Alyssa Angelo have dominated on the offensive end, each totaling 12 goals on the young season.
 
Kimora Bailey continues to own draw controls for the Eagles, winning 26 on the season – a team best.
 
On the defensive end, Rachel Miller has caused eight turnovers, while both Kelsey Johnson and Sara McGuire have seen significant time in goal. McGuire has 25 saves on the season, owning a 39.1 save percentage, while Johnson hangs on to a 2-1 record.
 
SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a 16-12 win over the Presbyterian Blue Hose to kick-off Big South play on Friday, Mar. 26. This is the first time in program history that the Runnin' Bulldogs won their conference opener.
 
In the win, Talen Francis and Aimie Perino both contributed a hat trick, while Jada Preston, Gabby Zerna and Tori Birks each had a pair of goals.
 
Francis leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 20 goals on the season, averaging 2.86 per game, good enough for third best in the conference.
 
Goalie Kathleen Mackey has started all seven games and has made 57 saves on 88 goals against. She currently has a 3-4 overall record, with a 39.3 save percentage.
 
UP NEXT
Winthrop will travel to Kennesaw, G.A. for a rematch with the Owls on Tuesday, Mar. 30. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. The Eagles were narrowly defeated the last time these teams met, 15-14.
