Eagles Drop Midweek Contest To Furman Wednesday Night

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Winthrop lacrosse dropped its midweek matchup at Furman Wednesday night, 19-5.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Paladins came out of the gates hot taking a quick 4-0 lead.
  • The Eagles got on the board at the 20:11 mark when Bianca Tedesco scored her 9th of the season.
  • Another 4-0 run gave Furman an 8-1 lead.
  • McKenna Blick and Lauren Asher found the back of the net, to cut into Furman's lead, making it a 9-3 game.
  • The Paladins would score two more times before the end of the half, taking an 11-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • Furman never let up in the second half, scoring back-to-back goals out of the break.
  • Lauren Morris scored her first of the contest, 9th of the season with 22:55 to play.
  • Sydney McClure scored back-to-back goals, followed by back-to-back goals from Kyra LaMotte to take a dominating 17-4 lead with just over 14 minutes to play.
  • The Paladins would score two more times before Lauren Morris put an end to the streak with 1:27 to play, making it a 19-5 final score.

  • Lauren Morris is the only Eagle to finish with multiple goals. She had two and an assist in the contest.
  • Kyra LaMotte had a game-high five goals.
  • The Paladins won 20 draw controls, with the Eagles winning six.
  • Sara McGuire made seven saves in 44:01 minutes played.
  • Kelsey Johnson played the remaining 15 minutes, making two saves while in net.
  • Lauren Asher won three draw controls, while Alyssa Angelo caused two turnovers.
  • Bianca Tedesco, who leads the team in assists, tallied two more in the loss.
