Game Recap
- Eagles had a couple of chances early as Lauryn Jennings had a shot in the 3rd minute go wide left and Katie Colwick struck a shot in the 5th minute but was right at the goalkeeper
- The momentum shifted to Gardner-Webb over the next 15 minutes as it tried to test Cammie Kaminski with some deep shots but were unable to hit frame
- Anna Fish did get a shot off from inside the 18 in the 19th minute but Kaminski was in the right position as she caught the ball for the save
- The remainder of the half the teams were able to build up some opportunities but nothing dangerous in the final third
- Winthrop applied pressure in the early going of the second half as Angelica Castro struck a ball well but it was deflected over the line for a corner
- Around a minute later Alex Perez hit a shot with pace but it was blocked
- In the 59th minute it looked like the pressure paid off as a ball served into the box found its way to Megan Loveland at the back post and she put the ball into the net but Castro was whistled for a foul when she challenged a header in front of goal
- Winthrop continued to pressure the Runnin' Bulldogs, earning a couple of corner kicks in the following minutes but came up empty
- In the 99th minute Lauren Uptegrove settled the ball in the box, turned and let a shot go but it struck a defender on the way to goal and was cleared
- Jada Newton had a couple of good chances inside the box in the early moments of the second overtime but the Eagle defense held strong blocking both and able to clear
- In the 109th minute Gabby Berkes had a good luck around the top of the box and tried to beat Ashylynn Harris low and to her left but she got a hand on the ball and the defense cleared the ball away for a corner
- Gardner-Webb had a 15-7 advantage in shots and a slight edge in shots on goal 3-2
- Eagles earned their second shutout of the season and second in three games

Winthrop is on the road for the next two games, beginning with Longwood on Sunday, Mar. 28 at 2 p.m.
