Farmville, VA – A big offensive spark in the top of the 6
th inning lifted the Eagles over the Lancers Sunday afternoon, 14-6. The Eagles were walked 19 times in Sunday's win, bringing in five runs. Winthrop improves to 5-6 on the young season, 2-1 against Big South opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Winthrop struck first, with Luke Hannum coming home off a Spencer Yankle single.
- In the next at-bat, Andrew Jenner flew out to right center deep enough to bring Joey Tepper home from third base.
- The three-run first inning was capped off by a sacrifice fly-out from Ty Hooks to score Dillon Morton.
- Jack Schnell singled to left field, scoring Cullan Wadsworth to making it a 3-1 game after one.
- Schnell had another RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd to bring home Eliot Dix.
- In the next at-bat, Ricky Jimenez hits a 3-run homer to give Longwood its first lead of the day, 5-3.
- Winthrop gets a run back in the top of the 4th when Yankle was walked with bases loaded to make it a 5-4 contest.
- The one-run deficit didn't last long, with Longwood getting on the board one again off a Cullan Wadsworth two-out single bringing a run in.
- Ty Hooks walked in the top of the 5th to lead things off followed by a hard hit double off the bat of Joseph Szvetitz.
- Ethan Fewell struck out before Dominguez walked Matt Levenson and Luke Hannum in back-to-back at-bats. Hooks came home on the second walk to make it a 6-5 game.
- Joey Tepper hit a deep sac fly to tie things up at six with two outs.
- The top of the 6th was a big one, where the Eagles totaled six runs off, three hits.
- Levenson and Hannum strung together back-to-back singles to pull ahead 8-6.
- Two runs came in off base-loaded walks to make it an 11-6 game.
- Andrew Jenner flew out to left center to score Tepper from third to take a 12-6 lead over the Lancers.
- The bottom of the 6th was quiet for the home team.
- Winthrop scored another run in its half of the 7th when Tepper singled to left center, bringing home Hunter Christopher, hanging on to a 14-6 lead.
- The 8th and 9th inning were quiet for both teams and the Eagles would win the rubber match, 14-6.
