Game Recap
- Lauren Uptegrove had the game's first shot as her attempt was saved by Morgan Hairston in the 9th minute
- In the 13th minute High Point earned a corner and Carsyn Gold served the free kick into the box and Sam Gerhart headed it home from about eight yards out for the early lead
- In the 29th minute, Gerhart struck again as Skyler Prillaman slipped a pass behind the Winthrop defense and Gerhart ran on as she took a touch and slotted it into the lower left corner from inside the box
- In the 82nd minute the Eagles looked to cut the deficit in half but Jessica Gengler's shot from inside the box was right at the keeper
- Gerhart completed her hat trick in the 85th minute when she received a pass from Prillaman inside the 18, set the ball up on her left foot and placed a shot into the top left corner
- Hairston finished with four saves to earn the shutout and Ashlynn Harris finished with seven saves

- Eagles fall to 4-9-5 all-time in season openers
- Four freshman made their collegiate debut against the Panthers as Gengler, Angelica Castro and Sadie Guest all started in the game while Bryn Radvanski played 46 minutes off the bench
