ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Eagles put up back-to-back three-set sweeps over the USC Upstate Spartans, winning Friday's sets 25-18, 25-20 and 25-18. Winthrop volleyball is now 2-2 on the season.

How It Happened
Winthrop put up another dominant performance in Game 2 against the Spartans.
In Set 1, Winthrop strung together five runs of three points or more to take an early 1-0 lead in the match, winning the first set, 25-18.
The second set was close early on, seeing seven ties and three lead changes. The Eagles took a 10-9 lead and would hang on to it the rest of the way. USC Upstate put up back-to-back points to make it a 24-20 contest late but the Eagles would secure the win off a kill from
Emily Wunder.
The third set also saw five Winthrop runs of three or more points. Early on, the Eagles went on an 8-1 tear to take an 18-9 lead. A 4-0 run put the Spartans back in it, making it a 19-14 contest. The home team responded with a 3-0 run of their own. Winthrop won the set off a kill from freshman
Olivia Blackketter, 25-18.

The Eagles will return to action Feb. 27 and 28 against the Campbell Camels right here at the Coliseum. This will be a 2019 Big South Conference Championship rematch as the last time these teams met, they were playing for the title. Winthrop enters the series with a 20-10 all-time series lead.
