The 49ers extended the lead to 9-2 on a fastbreak layup less than four minutes into the contest, but a 5-0 run from Winthrop got the Eagles within one possession. Charlotte again went on a big run to lead 16-7, but Winthrop strung together another 5-0 run to stay in the game. The 49ers scored the last four points of the period to go into the second quarter with an eight point lead.
Second Quarter | The Eagles got back to within 20-15 early in the second period before Charlotte went on a 5-0 run to take their first double-digit lead of the contest. Although Winthrop battled hard, the 49ers eventually took a 34-20 lead and went into the locker room with a 36-25 advantage.
Third Quarter | Winthrop was within ten points after Hunter made a short jumper, but the lead ballooned to 20 after a 10-0 Charlotte run. The Eagles managed to keep the deficit around the same margin throughout the quarter, but the 49ers held strong and took a 53-33 lead into the final stanza.
Fourth Quarter | Charlotte went on a big run and took a commanding 62-35 lead with less than six minutes left to play. The Eagles continued to fight late, with multiple players scoring down the stretch, but the 49ers were in control throughout and cruised to the non-conference victory.
