How it Happened
First Quarter | Winthrop started the game off well as Sierra Hunter scored the first basket of the contest. Coppin State countered with five consecutive points before J'Mani Ingram made a layup to cut the lead to one. The home team extended the lead to 9-4, but a 6-0 run from the Eagles, capped off by two Myra Strickland free throws, gave Winthrop a 10-9 lead. The Lady Eagles scored four of the next six points to take a 13-12 lead into the second quarter.

Second Quarter | Coppin State scored the first seven points of the period to extend the lead to eight points. A Noble Tsumas three pointer cut into the lead, but the Lady Eagles poured it on and took a double-digit lead with just over four minutes until halftime. The lead stayed around ten points and Ingram's layup with 48 seconds left in the half made the score 32-21 at halftime.

Third Quarter | The Lady Eagles quickly extended the lead to 15 points early in the third stanza before Hunter and Strickland combined for five points to cut the lead to ten. Coppin State took a 14 point lead on a fastbreak layup, but Winthrop responded with their best stretch of the game. A 7-0 run, capped off by an Ingram and-one slashed the lead to seven with 12 minutes to play in the contest, but consecutive three pointers from the Lady Eagles gave the home team a 13 point lead heading into the fourth period.

Fourth Quarter | The home team started the final quarter on a 10-0 lead, ballooning the lead to 23 points. The Eagles continued to battle hard throughout, but Coppin State was simply too much and the Lady Eagles cruised to a 68-43 victory.
