How it Happened
First Quarter | UNC Greensboro scored the first points of the contest on a three pointer before Winthrop countered with a Leonor Paisana three pointer and an and-one from Jaelyn Royal. Greensboro scored the next 11 points to seize the lead back, a lead they would not give up for the rest of the contest. Royal and Ally Ross scored to keep it close, but a Spartan three pointer at the buzzer gave the home team a 17-10 lead.

Second Quarter | Antoaneta Alexe opened the scoring in the second period and Ross scored another basket to keep the contest within six points before Greensboro took a 25-14 lead. Noble Tsumas hit a three pointer to slice into the lead, but the homestanding Spartans scored the final 11 points of the quarter to take a 19 point lead into the locker room.

Third Quarter | Greensboro scored the first four points of the third period to stretch the lead out to 23 points before four points between Ross and Paisana ended the run. The Spartans took a 47-21 lead a little more than halfway through the stanza, but the Eagles refused to go away. Tori Hall, Luka Malinka, and Royal scored consecutive buckets to cut the lead to 20. Later, a Ross three pointer got Winthrop within 17 to end the quarter.

Fourth Quarter | The lead stayed just under 20 points early on, but UNC Greensboro steadily pulled away. Leading 56-37, the hosts went on an 11-0 run to seal the game. Ross broke into double digits with her final basket of the game to close the scoring for the visitors.
