Game Recap
- Both teams applied pressure but didn't generate any great scoring chances over the first 15 minutes
- The Cougars had the game's first shot on frame in the 17th minute as Rio Murray's shot was saved by Sam Bell
- Winthrop opened the scoring in the 34th minute on a goal by Ethan Stevenson
- Brigham Larsen earned a free kick for the Eagles and less than 30 seconds later Sean Green set up Stevenson for his fourth goal of the season
- Over the first 45 minutes the shots on target were even (2-2) and corners as well at three each
- Cougars tied the match in the 54th minute when Jake Nicholson found the back of the net
- Connor Walmsley crossed a ball on the ground in front of goal as Bell dove and got a hand on it but it went right to Nicholson running toward goal and he slotted it home
- Eagles had a good chance to take the lead in the 72nd minute as Taeyoon Oh flicked a clearance by the Cougars back toward the box
- Stevenson ran under the ball and flicked it on to Jonathan Foster into the box as he fired a shot from about eight yards out that was turned away by a diving Cameron Smith
- Nearly seven minutes later the Cougars grabbed the lead on a goal by Murray off a corner kick
- Nicholson delivered the corner near post as Murray flicked it toward the back post and into the open goal

- Eagles drop their fourth straight as three of the four losses have been one goal games
- Cougars had an 18-10 advantage in shots and 5-3 in shots on goal

Looking Ahead
Winthrop gets back to league play for its final two games of the regular season beginning with Radford on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. The Eagles will recognize its senior class in a pregame ceremony.
