How it Happened
Set 1 | The early going saw both teams look to establish a foothold. With the score knotted at three, the Camels won four consecutive points to extend out their lead. Winthrop kept it close, staying within 11-8 near the midway point of the set, but Campbell won four straight points for an insurmountable 15-8 lead. Although the Eagles battled hard, the Camels continued their excellent play and took the first stanza by a score of 25-14.
Set 2 | Flipping the script, the Eagles took a 5-3 lead early on in the second set. Winthrop extended the lead to 11-8 on a
Nikkia Benitez kill and an attack error by the Camels, but Campbell went on a 4-0 run to re-take the lead. The Eagles went down 15-12, but stayed patient and clawed their way back to 17-all. With Campbell leading 21-20, Winthrop won four consecutive points, the last two due to Camel miscues. Later, a Campbell attack error handed the set to the visitors.

Set 3 | Once again, Campbell took an early 6-3 lead in the third period. Winthrop stayed within a point on multiple occasions, but the Eagles were unable to get over the hump, despite tying the set at 14. The Camels won four of the next six points; then, continued the dominance with seven consecutive points to end the set and take a 2-1 lead.
Set 4 | Winthrop won the first two points of the fourth set, showing that they weren't going anywhere. Although the Camels knotted the set at four, the Eagles won consecutive points to keep some distance. However, the critical sequence came much later in the set. With the teams tied at 12, Campbell went on yet another 4-0 run to seize control. Winthrop got within a single point twice. but the Camels finished off the match with three straight points.
