th place on the all-time rebounds list in Winthrop's 51-42 loss to Hampton Friday night. The Eagles are now 2-10 overall with a 1-7 mark against Big South opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
- Madison Ervin hit back-to-back corner 3-pointers to give Winthrop an early 6-2 lead.
- Coming out of the media timeout, Hampton's Jermany Mapp hit a deep shot of her own to make it a one point contest
- With 13 seconds on the clock, Sydney Hunter stripped the ball from Jermany Mapp, giving Winthrop a possession before the buzzer
- Maleeah Langstaff made a layup before time expired to give Winthrop a two-possession lead after 10 minutes of play, 13-9
- Winthrop led after the first 10 minutes of play for just the third time this season
SECOND QUARTER
- Both teams went cold to start off the second quarter, remaining scoreless until the 6:52 mark of the quarter.
- Nylah Young broke the scoreless streak with a layup to make it a 13-11 game in favor of Winthrop
- Langstaff fouled Mapp, she made both free throws to tie the game up at 13
- With 5:32 remaining in the half, Ervin turned the ball over, resulting in a Hampton 3-pointer at the hands of Tia Montagne to take a 16-13 lead
- With 5:01 on the clock, Tori Hall dished it to Sierra Hunter for the first Eagle points of the quarter
- The Eagles finished the half on a 7-2 run, leading at halftime, 20-18
- Winthrop held the home team to just 22.2 percent from the field in the first half
- This is just the second time Winthrop took a lead into the locker room at halftime
THIRD QUARTER
- The Pirates open the half with a 10-0 run to take a quick 28-20 lead
- Maleeah Langstaff snapped the streak with a layup for her 5th point of the night, she would finish with a team-high 10 points
- Winthrop was outscored 25-12 in the third quarter of play
- Hampton capitalized off Winthrop's four turnovers, scoring eight points of those mistakes
- Hampton shot 60 percent, going 9-of-15 from the field with four triples to take an 11-point, 43-32 lead with 10 minutes to play
FOURTH QUARTER
- Both teams got off to another slow start, not scoring until the 6:56 mark when Myra Strickland made 1-of-2 free throws
- Hampton's Victoria Davis and Winthrop's Maleeah Langstaff exchanged layups, Hampton led 45-33
- In the final five minutes of play, both teams put up six points, but the deficit from Hampton's offensive spark in the third quarter was too much to recover from.
- With 3:39 remaining in the game, Anika Riley grabbed her 6th board of the night to move into 10th on the all-time rebounds list with 696
- Winthrop battled hard but fell to Hampton, 51-43 to extend their losing streak to eight games.
