HAMPTON, V.A. – Winthrop snaps its eight-game losing streak with a 10-point, 63-53, victory over the Hampton Pirates Saturday afternoon. The Eagles were led by
Anika Riley, with 12 points and seven rebounds, and
J'Mani Ingram, who chipped in 11 points off the bench. The Eagles improve to 3-10 on the season with a 2-8 mark against Big South opponents.

FIRST QUARTER
- Winthrop won the tip-off and quickly took the lead off an Anika Riley layup
- Sydney Hunter grabs the defensive rebound and scores at the other end to take a 4-0 lead
- Victoria Davis drains a 3-pointer at the other end to make it a one-point game
- Sydney Hunter strips the ball from Dlayla Chakolis, goes coast-to-coast and lays it in. Winthrop leads, 6-3
- J'Mani Ingram checks in and immediately scores back-to-back buckets to take a 12-3 lead
- Victoria Davis stops Winthrop's 8-0 run with a layup with 3:31 remaining in the quarter
- Madison Ervin drains a 3-pointer to give Winthrop a double-digit lead, 15-5

- The Eagles struggled to take care of the ball, committing eight turnovers
- Winthrop took a nine point, 30-21, lead into the locker room at halftime
THIRD QUARTER
- Anika Riley opened the scoring in the half, giving the Eagles an 11 point edge, 32-21.
- Hampton's Tia Montagne responded immediately with a 3-pointer to cut Winthrop's lead to single-digits once again
- The Eagles opened the quarter shooting 1-of-9 from the floor, finishing 5-of-15
- With under a minute to play in the quarter, Tia Montagne knocked down a shot from behind the arc and Shawn Mills followed that up with a layup of her own to make it a one possession game, 42-39, with 10 minutes to play
FOURTH QUARTER
- Madison Ervin knocked down her second 3-pointer of the night to take a five point lead, 45-40
- Sierra Hunter grabs the rebound and dishes it out to her sister for the layup, Winthrop leads 47-40
- Alexis Wooden responds with a rebound and layup of her own to keep Winthrop's lead at five points
- J'Mani Ingram knocks down two free throws, tying her career-high 11 points, with 4:36 remaining in the game.
- Alexis Sykes checks in, strips the ball from Nylah Young and scores at the other end, Winthrop leads 52-47 with 2:41 remaining
- Myra Strickland was fouled, made both free throws and then knocked down a bucket to give Winthrop a 56-49 lead with 2:01 to play.
- The Eagles closed out the contest on an 11-4 run, making 9-of-10 free throws in that span
