CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Eagles fought hard against Detroit Mercy Thursday night, ultimately losing the contest 11-8 at Queens University. The contest was moved to a neutral site due to weather. Winthrop in now 0-6 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lauren Asher opened the scoring 40 seconds into play with her 15
th goal of the season to take an early lead over the Titans. Detroit Mercy and Winthrop exchange goals before the Eagles took off on a 4-0 run to take a 6-1 lead. Winthrop took a commanding 7-2 lead after 30 minutes of play. The Titans came out hot after the break, scoring six unanswered goals to gain the 8-7 edge.
Mia Creighton notched her 23rd goal of the season - third of the night - to tie the game with 12:31 remaining. Detroit Mercy would hold Winthrop scoreless while scoring three finals goals to earn the 11-8 victory, their first of the season.
