KENNESAW, G.A. – Winthrop lacrosse falls to 0-7 with a 13-9 loss to Kennesaw State Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Owls jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead before
Mia Creighton notched Winthrop's first goal of the game at the 21:27 mark of the first half.
Lauren Asher and
Savanah Paton scored back-to-back goals to make it a 4-3 game. Kennesaw State scored three more goals while holding Winthrop scoreless in the remainder of the half to take a 7-3 lead after 30 minutes of play. KSU opened the second half with two quick goals before
Bianca Tedesco netted her first of four. The teams exchanged goals to close out the contest with Tedesco scoring the last two for the Eagles, both with under a minute to play. Both teams notched six second-half goals but the Owls four-goal lead at halftime gave them cushion to hang on for the win.

Winthrop will return to Eagle Field on Friday, March 13 to host Furman at 3 p.m. The Eagles and Paladins have only met once before and Winthrop won the contest 15-5 at home.
