ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's basketball fell 56-50 to Radford, Saturday evening at the Winthrop Coliseum.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles held Radford to just six first quarter points, taking a five point lead after 10 minutes of play.
Destinee Jamison-Whitfield had eight of Winthrop's 11 points. The Eagles outscored the Highlanders 15-13 in the second quarter to lead 26-19 at halftime. Jamison-Whitfield led the game with 11 points. Radford chipped away at Winthrop's lead behind a big offensive push from Sydney Nunley and Khiana Johnson. Nunley scored 13 of her 17 points in the second half, while Johnson notched 10 of her 13 in the last 20 minutes of play. A 10-2 run to close out the third quarter made it a one possession game, 40-38. The visiting team didn't slow down, dropping seven quick points to take a three point lead with 6:08 to play. Anika Riley, Radford closed out the game with a 7-3 run to secure the win. Winthrop is now 11-16 overall, with a 8-10 conference record. There are two games remaining in the regular season.

A 20-point fourth quarter for the home team, holding the Blue Hose to just six points secured the win. Winthrop is currently 6-8 in road games, while PC holds a 6-7 record inside the Templeton Center.
