Eagles Take On Mercer Saturday Afternoon

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop lacrosse will stay on the road this weekend as they head to Macon, G.A. Saturday to take on the Mercer Bears.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
The Eagles are coming off a 17-9 loss to Liberty on Wednesday evening and enter the contest with a 0-4 record.
 
The team captains accounted for six of Winthrop's nine goals against Liberty. Olivia Deaver notched three goals in the loss – tying her career high in a single game, Bianca Tedesco led the team with five points off four assists and a goal and McKenna Blick scored two goals of her own. Lauren Asher, Mia Creighton and Savanah Paton all netted a goal. Aubrey Leszczak led the defensive efforts with four caused turnovers, while goalie Kelsey Johnson faced 38 shots, making 14 saves.

SCOUTING MERCER
The Bears are currently 2-2 on the season, after dropping contests at High Point and most recently to Cal at home. Mercer secured a win against Gardner-Webb and Campbell.

Reigning SoCon Freshman of the Year, Hailey Rhatigan, has picked up where she left off totaling 20 points in four games on 15 goals and five assists. Two of her goals were game-winning. Eva Thorn follows closely behind with 17 points after scoring 10 goals and recording seven assists. Michaela Lucas has won 15 draw controls, while Catie Snee has snagged 11 ground balls. Goalie Iseabal Cryne holds a 2-2 record, making 27 saves in four appearances.

Mercer is coming off a 10-10 overall 2019 season, finishing 4-1 in conference play.

ALL-TIME AGAINST MERCER
The Eagles hold a 2-0 all-time record against the Bears. This will be the third meeting in three consecutive seasons.

UP NEXT
The Eagles return home to host Detroit Mercy on Thursday, March 5. The Eagles and Titans met once during the 2013 season and the Eagles won the close contest, 12-10.
