HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles struck first off a jumper at the hands of Kem Nwabudu almost three minutes into the game, while holding Gardner-Webb scoreless through the 5:27 mark of the first quarter. Gardner-Webb was held without a field goal for the next 4:30 but in that time Lauren Bevis was fouled three times, sinking six good free throws before draining a 3-pointer to knot the game at 10 points. The Eagles trailed by two points after 10 minutes of play. The Eagles were narrowly outscored in the second quarter, posting 11 points to Gardner-Webb's 14. The Eagles trailed by five points at halftime behind a team-high eight points from Nwabudu. An 8-2 run for the home team tied the game at 30 and a Sydney Buckley layup gave the Eagles a 42-41 lead with 10 minutes to play. The game was tied at 46 with 5:35 on the clock but an 8-4 run for the visitors to end the game gave them the win.
