ROCK HILL, SC—The Winthrop men's golf team will play a nine event schedule in 2019-20 that will be highlighted by a return trip to Firestone C.C. and Palmetto Collegiate.
The schedule will include four different events from last season starting with the first two events at the fall. The Eagles will head to Charleston to open the season for 1-of-5 events in the state of South Carolina this season. Winthrop will compete in the The Battle at Briar's Creek hosted by the College of Charleston. Two weeks later head to the Graeme McDowell Invitational in Birmingham, AL.
The following three fall events will be the same last year starting with a return trip to the Firestone Invitational. Junior
Ryan Tattan shot an opening round 69 followed by a 68 on his way to a T12 finish in last season's event at Firestone. In late October the Eagles head to Powells Point, NC in the Outer Banks for the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. The fall wraps up with the East Bay Deli Classic at Turtle Point on Kiawah Island, SC.
The spring kicks off with a return trip to Hilton Head, SC for the Wexford Intercollegiate followed by the Palmetto Collegiate. The final two events of the spring prior to the Big South Championship will be the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular and the Wofford Invitational. It will be the Eagles first time at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular and the first time playing in the Wofford Invitational in nearly 10 years.
"We are pleased with the schedule we will take on in the 2019-20 season," said Pendley. "We return to some familiar events and courses and have added some new events that will provide a great experience and challenge to our players!"
The Big South Championship returns to the Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety-Six, SC.
