ROCK HILL, SC - Winthrop women's soccer scored the game's first goal and went to the half tied 1-1 with College of Charleston on Wednesday evening, but the Cougars used three second half goals to put the Eagles away and win 4-1 at Eagle Field. Winthrop fell to 0-3 on the 2019 season with the loss while College of Charleston improved to 2-2 with the road win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Winthrop struck first when senior
Natalie Royaards put one into the lower right corner in just the game's third minute, with
Keeley Leising recording her third assist of the season. Leising has now assisted on all three Eagles goals in the young season.
- College of Charleston's Hannah Farmer scored the equalizer from a rebound off the crossbar in the 16th minute with an unassisted goal, her first of the season.
- After forty minutes of scoreless play, the Cougars took the lead in the 56th minute with Hannah Farmer's second goal of the match and second of the season, putting away a rebound off a save from Eagle goalkeeper
Ashlynn Harris.
- College of Charleston put the game away with two insurance goals, the first coming in the 66th minute from Katrina Koomen (1) and the second coming from Haley Mannetta (1) in the 87th minute.

Ashlynn Harris made nine saves on 13 Cougar shots on goal (25 overall shots) to slow the attack as best she could, as the Eagles were outshot 25-7 in Wednesday's contest.

Keeley Leising totaled an assist as well as three shots (one on goal) in 57 minutes of play.
