ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop Athletics is proud to announce that over 70 percent of its eligible student-athletes earned Presidential Honor Roll status for their work in the classroom for the 2018-19 academic year, as reported by the Big South Conference. To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the academic year.
Winthrop was 1-of-4 Big South institutions to have at least 70 percent of its eligible students honored, with 70.54 percent of its 258 eligible student-athletes meeting the threshold. Overall, the conference announced that 58.90 percent of its eligible student-athletes earned the honor – the second-highest percentage in league history.
Additionally, the conference honored 18 Winthrop student-athletes with the Big South Commissioner's Award, given to eligible student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
