Mike Lutzenkirchen Gives Winthrop Athletes Words Of Wisdom During Thursday Night Presentation

Mike Lutzenkirchen Spoke To Winthrop Athletes Thursday Night
ROCK HILL, SC--The father of the late former Auburn football star Phillip Lutzenkirchen and former Winthrop soccer player Ann Lutzenkirchen gave an attentive audience of over 300 student-athletes gathered at the Richardson Ballroom on Thursday night a message that can impact the way they live their lives, the decisions they make, and how they serve others..

This past summer Philip, a fan favorite who played on the 2010 national championship team, died in a one-car crash at age 23.  Mike Lutzenkirchen, his father, now makes appearances on college campuses as part of the Lutzie 43 Foundation which was created with a mission to develop the character of young athletes and their coaches, focusing on leadership, charity, compasion, mentorship, hard work, honesty and faith.

On Thursday night he shared his presentation, "The Talk,"  which centers around his son's gift of love for others, strong character and faith, his community service and elements of Philip's last day on earth.

His visit to Winthrop is one of 13 he has made to college campuses around the southeast as he talks to athletes about the consequences of their decisions and what they can do to live productive lives while serving others.
