ROCK HILL, SC - With lots still to be decided in the Big South baseball standings, the Winthrop Eagles will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on the USC Upstate Spartans in the final regular season weekend of the 2019 campaign. This weekend's series is a Thursday to Saturday series and all three contests will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Winthrop is 29-20 overall on the season with a 16-8 mark in Big South play and sits third in the Big South standings, trailing first place Radford (17-7) by one game and second place Campbell (16-7) by half a game. The Eagles come off a 9-3 road loss to UNC Greensboro on Tuesday night, but took two of three games against Campbell last weekend at the Winthrop Ballpark to keep themselves in the mix at the top of the conference.
USC Upstate comes into the weekend series 22-27 on the season (8-15 Big South) and have lost their last five games. The Spartans allowed 30 runs to Charleston Southern in a three game sweep at the hands of the Buccaneers last weekend and lost a tough 1-0 contest to South Carolina on Tuesday night. The Spartans are currently set to be seeded eighth in next week's Big South Tournament.
