Â
Campbell quickly started its last-ditch effort, scoring only 27 seconds later to pull within one. The Camels won the ensuing draw but turned the ball over. Winthrop was unable to clear the ball, turning it back over. Campbell called a timeout and drew up a play that led to the game-tying goal with 29 seconds left.
Â
Campbell won the draw to start overtime but possessed the ball for only 35 seconds before
Savanah Paton forced a turnover. Paton picked up the ground ball and converted the clear for the Eagles. Winthrop settled the ball and set Creighton up for a drive for the game-winner.
