ROCK HILL, SC – The only two programs in Big South Conference history to lift the lacrosse championship trophy will meet in their third title matchup Sunday at 2 p.m. as the third-seeded Eagles take on the top-seeded High Point Panthers.

SEMIFINALS RECAP
Winthrop got a strong defensive effort Friday night and used a 5-0 second-half run to earn the upset victory over Longwood 12-9 in the semifinals. Big South Freshman of the Year,
Mia Creighton, led the Eagles with three goals and two assists and goalie
Alaina Girani recorded nine saves in the victory.
The top-seeded Panthers earned their trip to the title game, downing Campbell 16-9 Friday. High Point used a big first half, outscoring the Camels 11-4, to earn the victory.
LAST TIME AGAINST HIGH POINT
The Eagles and Panthers met in the regular-season finale only a week ago with High Point earning the 17-6 victory in Rock Hill. Winthrop trailed only by only two with 12:19 to play but the Panthers used a 6-0 run that spanned the end of the first and start of the second half to push the team to the victory and the top seed in the tournament.
ALL-TIME AGAINST HIGH POINT
Sunday will be the 12
th all-time meeting between the Eagles and Panthers with High Point owning an 8-3 lead in the series, having won the last four matchups. This will be the second straight championship meeting between the two programs and third overall. The Panthers bested the Eagles in the title game last year while Winthrop came out on top in 2016.
