ROCK HILL, SC – The third-seeded Winthrop lacrosse team opens Big South tournament play on Friday against the second-seeded Longwood Lancers at 7 p.m. at High Point University.
High Point earned the hosting rights after winning the regular season title and will play the fourth-seeded Campbell Camels Friday at 4 p.m. The winner of the two games will meet on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Eagles and Lancers last met on April 13 in Farmville, VA with Longwood coming away with a 14-4 win. Winthrop struggled offensively, putting only 12 shots on goal, converting only four. The win for Longwood was the third in a string of five straight that brought the Lancers to the second seed.
ALL-TIME AGAINST LONGWOOD
Longwood's victory over Winthrop in the regular season snapped a streak of five straight wins for the Eagles over the Lancers. Winthrop holds a 5-3 all-time record over the Lancers. The only meeting between the two squads in the conference tournament came in 2018 as the second-seeded Eagles downed the seventh-seeded Lancers 22-6 in Rock Hill.
