HAMPTON, VA— Winthrop softball's winning streak came to an end Monday afternoon with a 9-1 loss at Hampton in the final game of the Big South series.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Blake Wallert led off the game with a double to right center and three batters later scored on a sacrifice fly by Keleigh Romine
- Hampton took a 3-1 lead in the 3rd as Taylor Warrick's RBI triple tied the game
- Brianna Anderson put the Pirates in the lead with an RBI single and then Kial Watts made it 3-1 with an RBI double
- Pirates tacked on four more in the fourth inning highlighted by a two-run double by Anderson
- Hampton ended the game in the fifth with two more runs as Ashley Grassini provided a pinch-hit RBI double and then Samayah Richardson's RBI bunt single made it 9-1
- Bella Roy took the loss as she falls to 3-5 after allowing three runs on four hits in three innings with no walks and four strikeouts
EXTRA BASES
- Five of the nine runs for Hampton came with two outs
- The loss ends the Eagles win streak at five games as they've now won 10 of the last 16 games
- Morgan Lowers singled in the third inning which is her 199th hit of her career as she looks to become the 8th in program history to reach 200 in a career
- Eagles are now tied for third in the Big South Conference standings with Charleston Southern
