WHAT HAPPENED
- Eagles grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second as Brooke Ellison tripled with one out and scored on a ground out by Tori Walker
- Madyson Watson hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead
- Eagles went back-to-back as Ansley Gilreath followed with a solo shot to center and then an Ashley Westbrooks RBI single made it 5-0
- Watson retired the final eight batters of the game to secure her second shutout in the series
- Watson improved to 10-3 on the year after allowing just two hits, issued no walks and struck out five
- Morgan Lowers, Westbrooks and Watson each finished the game with two hits
- Taylor Ward took the loss for PC as she allowed four runs on five hits with three walks and a strikeout
EXTRA BASES
- Watson combined to throw 14.1 innings in the series with PC as she allowed no runs on six combined hits with no walks and 12 strikeouts
- Watson finished the series with two victories and a save
- Over her last 19 innings pitched she's allowed no runs, issued no walks and has allowed just 13 hits
- Lowers moved one hit behind Laura Hill for 9th on Winthrop's all-time career hit list as she now has 195
- Lowers also notched her 16th multi-hit game of the season while Westbrooks extended her streak of reaching base to 14 games
- Watson is not only excelling in the circle but she's reached base in seven straight games and is 9-for-18 at the plate in that stretch with five runs and eight RBI
- This was the first regular season series sweep of a conference opponent since the Eagles won three straight against Longwood in 2017 at home

Eagles will be on the road this weekend when they travel to Hampton, VA to take on Hampton in a three-game series that begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 13 starting at noon. The series will wrap-up on Sunday with a single-game at 1 p.m.
