ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's tennis (6-3, 2-0) swept its second-straight Big South Conference match with a 7-0 win over UNC Asheville (5-4, 0-2) Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
-The Eagles opened the match taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Tayla Van Eck and Ellie Burns led off with a 6-0 shutout at No. 3, while No. 31-ranked Lauren Proctor and Megan Kauffman held off a charge by Asheville's Lize Alet Morkel and Taylor Love for a 6-4 win at No. 1.
 
-No. 51 Proctor kept her foot on the gas in singles play, posting a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Morkel.
 
-Rafaela Santos posted consecutive wins for the first time this season, taking a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Taylor Love at No. 4.
 
-Kauffman earned the clinching fourth point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3, putting up her second shutout set of the season. Burns posted a shutout set as well in her 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
 
-Alisa Soloveva won her sixth-consecutive singles match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
 
-Van Eck completed the sweep with her victory at No. 5. The sophomore patiently battled back from down 1-4 in the first set to go up 6-5 on a break and take the set 7-5 on serve. Van Eck carried the momentum into the second set for a 6-2 win.

NOTABLES
-Every Eagle won her singles match in straight sets, including three 6-0 shutout sets and four sets in which the opponent earned just one game.
 
-Van Eck and Burns have posted four-straight wins at the No. 3 doubles spot.
