ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's tennis (4-2) earned a 6-1 victory over College of Charleston (1-3) Friday afternoon at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
-Winthrop took the doubles point with wins at courts one and three.
-The Eagles would jump out to a 3-0 lead with quick straight-set wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions by Lauren Proctor and Alisa Soloveva.
-Rafaela Santos clinched victory with a three set victory at court four, only dropping her second set in a tiebreaker.
-Ellie Burns and Megan Kauffman added wins at courts six and three to push the lead to 6-0. CofC's Turner Yates got the Cougars on the board with a hard-fought victory at No. 5. Winthrop's Tayla Van Eck downed Yates 6-1 in the first set, then Yates took a 7-6 tiebreaker second set and edged Van Eck 7-5 to take the third set and match.  

NOTABLES
-Senior Megan Kauffman earned her first singles victory of the season, defeating Anastasia Palaska in three sets.

-The Eagles have won the doubles point in each of their four victories so far this season.

-No. 20 All-Americans Kauffman/Proctor are undefeated at court one doubles at 5-0.

-In an exhibition singles match, Alya Mourad earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Charleston's Ava Turner.

LATEST RANKINGS RELEASED WEDNESDAY
In the latest ITA/Oracle Division I National Rankings released Wednesday, Megan Kauffman and Lauren Proctor moved up to No. 20 in the nation in the doubles rankings, while Proctor jumped to No. 32 in the singles list.
