ELON, NC – The Winthrop lacrosse team fell 23-4 Wednesday evening on the road to the Elon Phoenix.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Elon (2-1) scored the first seven goals of the game in just over seven minutes. The Phoenix led 14-3 at the break.
Mia Creighton scored twice and
Lauren Morris added a goal for the Eagles in the first half.
Winthrop (0-4) scored the first goal of the second half from the stick of
Lauren Asher with 25:30 on the clock but didn't record another shot for the remainder of the game as Elon scored the next nine goals.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Creighton's two goals came on three shots and she also recorded an assist.
Olivia Deaver tallied Winthrop's other assist. Elon outshot the Eagles 33-7 and dominated the draw circle 22-6.

Winthrop will continue on the road as the Eagles head to Old Dominion Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against the Monarchs.
