CONWAY, S.C. – Winthrop men's tennis fell 4-3 in close road match at Coastal Carolina Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
-The Eagles struggled to find their footing in doubles play, with Coastal taking two quick 6-1 victories at courts one and two to win the opening point.
-The Chants took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 5 by Daiki Tanabe over Lluis Miralles, but Alberto Tinagli got Winthrop on the board with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 6 over Pyry Hyrkkonen.  
-Coastal would clinch the win with two more straight-set wins, coming at No. 4 and No. 2, respectively.
-The Eagles would take the final two points for a 4-3 final score, with Diego Quiroz and Connor Williamson each earning hard-fought three-set wins by identical scores, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

NOTABLES
-Connor Williamson has posted five-consecutive singles victories, four of the five in straight-sets. Diego Quiroz and Alberto Tinagli have also both won five-straight singles matches.

The Eagles return to the friendly confines of Rock Hill Tennis Center to face Radford in Big South action on Fri., Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.
