WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off two losses in the first weekend of the season. The Eagles fell 12-4 at home to Davidson after dropping a one-goal game at East Carolina. Freshman
Mia Creighton had a four-goal performance against the Pirates and leads the team with five goals on the year.
Lauren Morris leads the team with seven points on three goals and four assists.
SCOUTING LIBERTY
Liberty opened the 2019 season with a 15-5 victory over Lehigh last Saturday. The Flames have a very experienced team that graduated only three players last season. Liberty has returned three of its top four scorers from last season as well as starting goalie Katherine Widrick.
ALL-TIME AGAINST LIBERTY
Friday will be the first non-conference meeting between the Eagles and Flames as Liberty left the Big South for the Atlantic Sun prior to this season. Winthrop holds a 6-2 lead in the all-time series. Liberty snapped a five-game losing streak to the Eagles during the regular season last year but Winthrop earned its revenge with an upset in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop hits the road for two contests next week. The Eagles will take on the Elon Phoenix Wednesday before heading to Old Dominion for a 1 p.m. Saturday contest.
