NORFOLK, Va. – Winthrop men's tennis opened Big South Conference play with a 7-0 sweep of new league member Hampton Sunday afternoon at Old Dominion University's Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center indoor facility.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
-Winthrop took the doubles point with a win by Diego Quiroz and Connor Williamson at the No. 1 position and a default victory at No. 3.
 
-The Eagles sealed victory with straight-set singles wins by Gabriel Dias, Aditya Gokhale and Williamson. Diego Quiroz and Alberto Tinagli tacked on wins of their own to complete the sweep. The No. 6 court point went to the Eagles by default.

NOTABLES
-The Eagles have won the doubles point in each of their wins this season.

-Today's victory marks the team's third-straight win.

-Connor Williamson has posted three-consecutive singles victories, all in straight-sets.
 
-No. 1 doubles pair Williamson and Quiroz own a 5-1 record so far this season. The duo went 3-3 in six matches played together in 2018.
